He told Moggie of his stories of bravery as a International Peacemaker.
Mr Smith also taught Moggie the importance of kindness and helping people.
He made matching SM t-shirt for him and Moggie, the S stood for Smith and M for Moggie.
When Moggie left home Mr Smith gave Moggie his Gold Heart medal for bravery as a gift.
